Fact:

Did you know that nearly 500,000 teenage girls become single mothers each year and the majority of these parenting teens do not have the economic and or social resources in place to provide for themselves or their children?

The House of Wisdom is a Non-Profit Organization for single mothers and their children.  We provide housing, work readiness training, and mentoring to young single mothers ages 16-24 and their children in the greater Palm Beach County area.

Homeless shelters, battered women's shelters and transitional living programs may not always accept teenagers who are under the age of 17; nor do these programs generally accept young children.

Market Analysis Summary

The House of Wisdom Restart Center is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of young single mothers struggling to care for their children in today’s society. The center will help participants make a dramatic change in their lives and enable them to produce a stable, nurturing environment for their children. The Center is positioned to be most accessible to mothers who might otherwise be swept into public support programs.

The goal of the Center is to identify those young mothers who are going through a turbulent transition from adolescent to adulthood and now motherhood. The Center will offer a positive support system while training them to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus for each participant will vary according to their age, level of education, emotional development, and financial stability. At the adolescent level (16-17) the young mother will be provided mentors that serve as developmental role models to establish effective parenting skills.

Market Segmentation

The House of Wisdom Restart Center employs a market focus that is key to its success. It focuses on ameliorating major stressors such as poverty, poor child-raising skills, abusive relationships, substance abuse, and the effects of inadequate educational and career preparation. The Center’s programs will foster empowerment for positive change through goal setting, self–discipline, skill development, employability skills, and the attainment of financial stability.

Young single mothers and their children are a reality which cannot be ignored. It requires a coordinated community based effort to restart stalled lives, and replace problematic behaviors with a focused pathway to success.

Market Strategy

The House of Wisdom Restart Center believes that outreach activities that increase public awareness and visibility are crucial to success. Our marketing strategy will be to successfully sell this new resource to the people we serve and to the community at-large.

We will start with silk screened T-shirts that project a powerful message and tell the community we care. We will follow up with printed and on-line material that will sell the benefits of the Center to both potential referrers and to participants. Those who deliver services are also responsible for helping to market the work they perform and the goals they achieve.

The participants likewise have a role to play in program promotion. Through multi-media efforts, the participants become living models of success. The greatest advertisement and fund-raising technique is the success story of a young mother and the smile of a healthy and contented child.

The core of the marketing strategy will be the creation of a dynamic Board of Directors teamed with dedicated and focused Center professionals and community leaders who are motivated to reach out to the community we serve. If it takes a community to raise a child, it takes a community vision and dedication to make it happen.
